Through our networks, we are in contact with a young man who fled with his family from Iran to Indonesia in 2013. Since 2019, he has been suffering from varicocele, which are varicose veins in the scrotum, which can only be remedied surgically. During a recent ultrasound examination, it became clear that hydrocele had developed in the testicles. A hydrocele is a fluid accumulation in the scrotum. The young man suffers from severe pain. Three doctors have independently recommended surgery. In case of non-treatment, in addition to the severe pain, permanent sterilization threatens this young man. The cost of the operation currently amounts to 3500 €.
Situation of refugees in Indonesia
The government of Indonesia has not signed the Geneva Convention. Refugees in Indonesia do not have access to health insurance and only some who are protected by the IOM have limited access to health services. The young man and his family have been living in Indonesia without a work permit since 2013. The Indonesian government and the UNHCR do not provide financial support, shelter or health services. Refugees are also supported only to a limited extent by support centres, charities and churches. We at Transnational Community Federation e.V. want to collect donations to finance the operation for the young man. You can support us in this endeavor, and the ones alike!
